Smith & Spindle
A day of spinning, weaving and silversmithing in the Black Mountains
Saturday 7th November 2026
What is Smith & Spindle?
Smith & Spindle is a full day of old craft in a warm and homely stead tucked into the Black Mountains of Brecon, where you will learn three of the handicrafts our ancestors knew by heart, and carry every one of them home with you.
You will spin your own thread the way it was done long before wheels and machines. You will thread a loom in circle with the other women and begin a weaving project of your own, with plenty of hands to help and songs to carry you along. And in the afternoon, once you have been well fed, you will hammer and shape your own Celtic silver brooch by the fire.
No skill needed. No polished crafty self required. Just you, your hands, and a whole day to slow right down and make something beautiful in good company.
Thank you for this beautiful experience, I feel like I have something so precious to keep with me. It is truly alchemy, weaving time and experience together like magic.
